Let’s break down the formula so it feels a little less intimidating:

Volume = (2/3) × π × r³

Here’s what’s happening:

  • r is the radius — the distance from the center of the hemisphere to its edge

  • r³ means you multiply the radius by itself three times (not just square it)

  • π (pi) is a constant, roughly 3.1416

  • Then you multiply all of that by 2/3 to get half the volume of a full sphere

Let’s say you have a hemisphere with a radius of 4 cm. Here's how you'd calculate the volume:

  1. Cube the radius:
    4 × 4 × 4 = 64

  2. Multiply by π:
    64 × 3.1416 = 201.06

  3. Multiply by 2/3:
    (2/3) × 201.06 = 134.04
